Weather bureau, PAGASA, has issued its first severe weather bulletin for Typhoon #LawinPH (international name: HAIMA) at 5:00 PM on Monday, October 17.
#LawinPH could possibly intensify into supertyphoon before making landfall in Cagayan on Thursday morning. It has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 5:30 PM today and was located based on all available data at 1,155 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.7N, 134.9E).
Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 600 km diameter of the Typhoon and is expected to intensify further before making a landfall.
It is expected to make landfall over Cagayan Area by Thursday morning (October 20) then cross Ilocos Norte and Apayao. It may exit PAR on Friday (October. 21).
Typhoon Lawin carries a maximum sustained winds of up to 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 24 kph.
No tropical storm warning signals has been hoisted as of posting.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
