The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has released a new matrix for the implementation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units as requirement for license or PRC ID renewals for all profession.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10912, all regulated professions are mandated to present CPD units for renewals to strengthen and further professional development.
The implementation of the program will start this year. The PRC set the schedule for the implementation of the CPD requirements as follows:
- January to June 2017 – 0
- July to December 2017 – 30%
- January to December 2018 – 60%
- January 2019 onwards – 100%
Which means that for accountants, who are required to accumulate 120 CPD units to renew their licenses, they can still renew their licenses until June 2017 without CPD units, then by July to December 2017, they are required to have at least 36 CPD units before renewal. Next year, they will be required to have at least 72 units and the full 120 CPD unit requirements by 2018.
