ABS-CBN Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos confirmed that Angel Locsin will no longer play as “Darna” in a movie due to health reasons.

On Monday, Santos said that the decision to cast out Locsin in the movie adaptation of the Filipino superheroine came after the latter suffer another back pains three weeks ago.

But, because deep in our hearts na siya lang ang pwedeng maging Darna, we gave her the chance and she promised to do the therapy na magpapagaling siya para sa kanyang likod,” Santos said.

It can be recalled that the shooting for movie was temporarily withheld after Locsin, who will play the lead character, suffered spine problems.

Since the movie stunts entail physical strength from the actor, Star Cinema has decided to remove Locsin from the project because her health is their top priority.

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network still assured the fans of Locsin that she is still one of the network’s biggest stars and they will still be seeing more of her in ABS-CBN.

In the official Facebook page of Star Cinema, it announced that Locsin will be starring in an upcoming movie alongside James Reid, a movie with Coco Martin, a teleserye and a special appearance with John Lloyd in “La Luna Sangre”.

Who will play Darna?
