President Rodrigo Duterte tops as people’s choice for this year’s TIME 100 nominees.
Duterte, who has gained critics locally and internationally for his “war on drugs” and controversial remarks, is favored by 94% of voters (as of press time) to belong to the 2017 TIME 100.
There are 114 nominees for this year’s honorees including other influential leaders like US President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Russia’s Vladimir Putin; singers and artists like Beyonce, John Legend, and Jennifer Lopez; tech leaders like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and authors like best-selling author JK Rowling, among others.
The TIME 100 is an annual list of the most influential people in the world, featuring artists, politicians, lawmakers, scientists and leaders of technology and business.
Readers may cast their votes on the magazine’s official website until April 16 at 11:59 p.m. E.T. The winner of the reader polls will be announced immediately after.
The final list of honorees, however, will be chosen by TIME’s editors, but the reader’s choice may affect their choices.
This year’s official TIME 100 list will be announced April 20.
