A new low pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday morning, September 14. It will be named Tropical Storm (TS) Gener (International Name: Malakas) once it entered PAR. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is expected to issue the first weather bulletin for TS Gener tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Typhoon “FERDIE” has slightly intensified while traversing the Bashi Channel and moving closer to Batanes group of islands. The typhoon is expected to be in the vicinity of Batanes this midnight or tomorrow early morning. Residents in Northern Luzon are advised to take precautionary measures against impacts of very strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Storm signals are still raised on some areas:
- Signal No. 4: Batanes Group of Islands
- Signal No. 3: Babuyan Group of Islands
- Signal No. 2: Ilocos Norte, Apayao and Northern Cagayan
- Signal No. 1: Rest of Cagayan, Northern Isabela, Kalinga, Abra and Northern Ilocos Sur
Classes are suspended in some areas as Typhoon Ferdie continues to batter Nothern Luzon.
