It seems that no calendar shift will be observed in the next academic year.
The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that classes in public schools will start on June 5, 2017.
In an advisory released by DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali, it said that first day of classes in public schools, is still set for the first Monday of June, which falls on the 5th day of same month.
Private schools, however, will have a discretion whether to start at the same time, according to Umali. They could start classes until the last day of August, he addedz
Some private schools, which had calendar shift, still hold classes until today.
The previous school year ended last April 7 and consisted of 202 school days.
Meanwhile, summer classes will start April 17 and ends May 31 according to the DepEd calendar posted on its website.
