Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, otherwise known as the KathNiel, remains to be one of the love teams to beat when it comes to movie box office figures.
Their latest big screen offering, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, raked a whopping Php 33 million on its first day of showing. Star Cinema posted the official figures on their social media accounts on Sunday.
CHFIL has officially become the highest grossing Filipino film to open on a Black Saturday due to its box office success. It also broke KathNiel’s own box office figures. Their recent film “Barcelona: A Love Untold” earned Php 23 million on its first day and raked Php 321 million in box office.
The movie revolves around Gab (Bernardo) and Dos (Padilla). Gab is a “close to perfect girl” who’s already set to wed her long-time boyfriend Jason (Matteo Guidicelli). Her world, however, suddenly turns upside down when she discovers that she is already married – but to a total stranger, the happy-go-lucky Dos. As she figures out with Dos how this unlikely incident happened between them, Gab starts breaking her own rules to survive their crazily confusing situation. But with the changes in her well-planned life seems to come a change of heart as well.
Can’t Help Falling in Love is directed by Mae Cruz Alviar and is shown in over 300 cinemas nationwide.
