The Malacañang Palace on Friday announced work suspension in selected government agencies and LGU’s in Metro Manila on April 24 to 30, due to ASEAN Summit 2017.
Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 18, work in the government and private sectors are hereby suspended in the following areas on corresponding dates:
- PICC Complex, Pasay City – Government Sector – April 24-30, 2017
- CCP Complex, Pasay City – Government Sector – Apri 28-30, 2017
- Cities of Pasay, Makati and Manila – Government Sector – April 27, 2017
- Metro Manila – Government and Private Sectors – April 28, 2017
According to the memorandum, the cancellation of work is based upon the recommendation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation’s (ASEAN) 2017 National Organizing Council – Office of the Director General and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as per security measures for the safety of the delegates.
Government agencies involved in the delivery of basic services including security and safety, health and emergency preparedness, however, shall remain open during those dates.
The suspension of work in private sectors other than those from the places indicted above shall be upon the discretion of their respected LGUs and or employers.
Classes are also suspended in Metro Manila on April 28 (Friday). The suspension of classes on April 27 in the cities of Manila, Pasay and Makati shall be upon the discretion of their respective heads.
The ASEAN Summit is a semiannual meeting held by the member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in relation to economic, and cultural development of Southeast Asian countries. It is attended by ASEAN country heads and economic leaders.
