Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Sunday that the Malacañang Palace suspends work in all government offices and classes in all levels, both in private and public on October 16, Monday. Andanar added that the memorandum for the said suspension will be released by the Palace.
The announcement of class suspension came after several transport groups said they will stage a two-day nationwide transport strike or tigil pasada. Transport group Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) said that the strike is in protest to the planned modernization program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Andanar added that suspension of work in private sectors will be upon the discretion of the heads and employers.
