San Felipe, Zambales – (UPDATED) A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Zambales town on Sunday, June 17.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a strong quake with magnitude of 5.2 hits Zambales on June 17 at around 5:46 PM.  The temblor has a depth of 18 kilometers with epicenter located at 14.96°N, 119.55°E – 057 km S 79° West of San Felipe town in Zambales.

The earthquake was also felt in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.  Intensity III shaking was felt in Cainta, Rizal and Intensity II in Quezon City

In its second bulletin, PAGASA updated the reported intensities: Intensity IV – San Felipe, Zambales Intensity III- Cainta, Rizal Intensity II – Quezon City; Pasay City; Pasig City; Mandaluyong City

No damages were recorded, however, aftershocks are expected according to the state seismologists.

Earlier this morning, an earthquake of similar magnitude was felt in Jose Abad Santos, a town in Davao Occidental. Similarly, damages were not reported but aftershocks have been reported.
