Gilas defeats Chinese Taipei during their face-off on Friday, June 29, for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers held at the Taipei Heping Basketball Stadium.
The Philippine national men’s basketball team had a successful finish with 93-71 points over the Taiwanese team. June Mar Fajardo leads Gilas with 22 point. Top guards Jayson Castro and Terrence Romeo also delivered with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Andray Blatche, on the other hand, finishes the game with 13 points, twelve rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks.
The Chot Reyes-led team improves their Group B record to 4-1, tying the top spot with Australia. Meanwhile the Taiwanese, faces possible elimination for the next round with their record falling to 1-4.
The 12-man team will be battling out with the Australians on July 2, Monday at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. Gilas hopes to dominate over Australia and take the solo lead in Group B.
