Manila, Philippines – A supposed advisory regarding airline terminal transfer starting August 31, 2018 started circulating on social media earlier this year.
The Department of Transportation(DOTr) and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that the terminal re-assignment of airlines WILL NOT PROCEED as previously envisioned.
In a press release, MIAA added that while talkd with some airline operators have started and with some signifying intent to trandfer, options have been discussed are exploratory in nature.
“Discussions gave rise to unforeseen operational constraints that require longer time to resolve,” said the statement.
Due to the foreseen problems thay may be encountered if the re-assignment pushes through, MIAA defers the implementation of the program. Therefore, no transfer of airlines will occur until further notice contrary to what has been going rounds in the internet.
MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal also urge the public to scrutinize information shared especially on social media. Nothing is official unless the information or advisory came from official websites and pages of DOTr and MIAA and other verified sources.
“Importante na ang mga tao ay maging mapanuri sa mga nababasa nila online. I-verify muna nila kung totoo bago i-post at ipakalat. As soon a final decision on this has been made, we will blast an official statement via our official communications platforms,” MIAA GM Ed Monreal said.
Meanwhile, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade assured the public that announcements will be made once all issues have been resolved and plans are finalized.
“Huwag tayong magmadali. We will release an advisory as soon as all possible options have been carefully evaluated. We have to make sure that before we make changes, pulido at na-explore ang lahat ng posibleng mangyari at ang mga pwede nating hakbang so as not to sacrifice the comfort, convenience, and safety of the public,” Sec. Tugade said.
