Plan your vacation ahead as three non-working holidays are anticipated next month – August 21, 22 and 27. A long weekend also awaits Filipino families and workers as the country commemorates the National Heroes’ Day.
List of Philippine holidays in August 2018:
August 21, 2018 (Tuesday) is Ninoy Aquino’s Day, a Special Non-Working Holiday, to commemorate the assassination of former Senator Ninoy Aquino.
August 21, 2018 (NOT August 22, 2018) (Tuesday) is also declared a holiday to celebrated Eid’l Adha or “Feast of Sacrifice, one of the two Muslim holidays that are declared as regular holidays annually.
Although the official date is yet to be declared by President Rodrigo Duterte, Eid’l Adha this year will likely fall on August 22nd. Upon recommendation of the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos, the Malacañang Palace has declares August 21 as the celebration of Eid. Since the Islamic calendar is lunar-based, the dates of the holidays may vary depending on moon sighting.
The Department of Education (DepEd), however, still marks the date as a regular holiday in its latest school calendar of activities.
August 27, 2018 (Monday) is National Heroes’ Day, a regular holiday. Said event is celebrated to pay homage to the National Heroes of the country. Every year this day falls on the fourth Monday of August.
