Manila, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas lineup for Asian Games 2018 was released by SBP after the country retracts its decision to withdraw from the Asiad.
A couple weeks ago, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced that the Philippines withdraws participation from the basketball event in the Asian Games 2018 due to short preparations, leaving fans reeling in disappointment.
However, in its recent announcement, the country’s national basketball association changed its mind and is set to send out a twelve-man team for the pan-Asian quadrennial athletic event.
The country was all set to send the core of Rain or Shine team to the Asian Games when the SBP suddenly announced the country’s withdrawal.
In a press-conference on Sunday, SBP and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) officials has formally announced the country’s participation in the Asiad, as well as the fourteen players who are going to compete and the head coach.

Coach Yeng Guiao of NLEX Road Warriors will serve as the head coach for the national team. The lineup will be trimmed down to 12 before leaving for Indonesia on August 14, says Guiao.
The Asian Games 2018 will be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from August 18 to September 22, 2018.
