The annual Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards has named its new King and Queen of Box Office for year 2017.
The body has decided to award the titles to Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, otherwise known as LizQuen, due box office success of their latest movie “My Ex and Whys”.
The Star Cinema offering snagged around P400 million pesos during its run in cinemas nationwide and select international screenings, making it the most successful movie of LizQuen. Their two other previous movie team ups, “Just the Way You Are” and “Everyday I Love You”, both only surpassed the Php100 million mark.
LizQuen have defeated Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez, now known as AlEmpoy, for their movie “Kita Kita”, which has reportedly recorded a whopping Php 320 million pesos in the box office. The two, however, were recognized as a “Breakthrough Love Team“.
Vice Ganda is once again hailed as the Phenomenal Box Office Star, alongside Pia Wurtzbach and Daniel Padilla for their movie “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad”. The comedy flick has earned Php 571 million pesos toppling other Vice Ganda’s previous records.
